Perhaps the most effective of the UnderWorld spies, H'earring mainly puts his supersonic skills to himself
H’earring resembles a short, fatty and adorable Gremlin. He has a lime green skin, big royal blue eyes and pointy canine teeth, being the lower ones slightly bigger, slipping out of his jaw. He has a turkey red Mohawk hair, a long goatee beard and a small tuft of hair on his short arms, three fingers with moderately long and sharp nails on his hands and two big and wide, nutmeg coloured nails on his feet and a teeny tiny tail. As for clothing, he wears just a short brown waistcoat with a small leather backpack.
But the most notable of H’earring’s physical traits are his ears. Green as his body, with a moss’ tonality on their tips and are very, very long and wide, almost up to his knees, which greatly enhance the supersonic ability that makes of him a great spy for the UnderWorld.
Personality & Behaviour
H’earring is a Creature with a…. quite peculiar taste for food. From stinky Dractyl Scales to swamp scum from Lake Pouril and rotten fruits, he happily eats them all. It was through this odd behaviour of his that Kaz, as a veteran player, managed to get an inside “man” in Perim and being one of the most charismatic Creatures that is, it didn’t take too long for them to develop a strong friendship bond.
As Scout, H’earring is always wandering around the most diverse Locations in the UnderWorld, from the UnderWorld City to Everrain, he gathers information about the most diverse matters, spying unsuspecting enemies and conspirators from afar, but most of the times he’s putting his skills to his own good, snooping around for whatever might worth a trade for the “delicious treats” Kaz often brings to him.
Although he’s a loyal servant of Chaor, he’s rarely summoned or assigned to important tasks. While this may seem prejudiced for some, it’s perfect for H’earring, as it gives him more time for another a nap.
Even though H’earring is brave enough to venture himself in Locations he shouldn’t be, as seen during the events of The Chronicles of CodeMaster (Part 1), or even facing Creatures he shouldn’t annoyingly disturb, as seen during the the events of Dual Duel (Part 1), he’s also wise enough to avoid fighting whenever possible because he knows he’s not exactly a powerful Creature and if things get ugly he would have difficulties in escaping.
Still, at expense of a Mugician, he’s able to reorder 3 Locations’ Cards of target Deck, thus manipulating future battles by ensuring the best possible strategy for his team or mining his opponents’ plans.
In the Animation, during the M’arrillian Invasion, in order to maximize the effects of their plan of flooding all of Perim, the M’arrillians had to reshape part of the land by building dams in strategic Locations. And because the M’arrillians aren’t much of manual labour they have to brainwash other Creatures to work for them.
After the events of Newbie, Kaz stubbornly wanted a scan of Milla’iin and convinced H’earring to keep an eye out for him. When they went to check a hint H’earring got, they came across the M’arrillian leading the construction of a canal towards the Marsh of Murk. When Kaz tried to get his scan, the Milla’iin sensed their presence and, almost instinctively, attacked with his brainwashing attack. While Kaz managed to escape, H’earring got hit, coming into play, the Tainted.
Surrendered to the power of the M’arrillians, H’earring’s appearance changed significantly. With wider eyes, opened enough to allow the back nerves to be seen, and an overall malign expression, he then becomes a loyal Minion, much more powerful but also very coward, fact that could be seen when he faked getting back to normal, exploring Kaz’s feeling to rescue him after being kicked out of a cliff.
Becoming a M’arrillian Minion also changed his innate ability, allowing him to force his opponents to attack in a way different than intended. A very handy ability that may also be a double-edged sword, if this little mental trick ends up forcing the adversary to attack in an even stronger way than they originally planned.
However, when commanded by a M’arrillian Chieftain, Creatures capable of brainwashing other Creatures, H’earring’s abilities change once again to better suit the Captain, allowing, at expense of a Mugician of every Creature remaining in his squad, teleport everyone to a different Location, chosen from three as his master sees fit.
H’earring appears, in Perim or in Chaotic, in the following episodes:
