Magmon's demeanour will melt your heart... after burning through the rest of you
Magmon is an Elementalist of the UnderWorld Tribe, whose lineage descends from Kaal, the UnderWorld ruler back in the time of the Ancient Perim — until deposed by Kiru as an answer to his incessant incursions to Kiru Village.
Magmon comes from the contraction of the English words magma and monster, describing the overall physical aspect of his appearance.
Magmon resembles an enormous magma golem made with a searing outer rind made of hardened mafic volcanic rocks forming a dark purplish-blue body constantly cracking, expanding and contracting back again whenever he moves, thus exposing his inner core.
With a quite disproportionally shaped body, he has large arms with natural stone gauntlets, small hands with three thick fingers and small legs with big feet under a paunchy torso with rocky spikes following the curvature of his spine, being the upper-half part of his back much larger and slightly inclined which, along with a lowered head, give him a hunchback look. On his face, stoned-carved eyebrows and shallow light greenish-yellow eyes in black cavities and a chipped mouth with a big jaw; and on his shoulders and knees, dark-blue rock formations similar to small geysers with wide open craters.
Although he was never seen in Perim, starting with the M’arrillian Invasion, Magmon appearance became noticeably larger, full-bodied and, especially, more proportional. His body now dark greyish-brown has a better shape, with rocky spikes on his arms, prominent stone knuckles in both hands and big, thick legs with huge squared feet. With a better-sculpted face, with jagged eyebrows, carved teeth and beard-like details on his big, squared chin, he certainly got a well-deserved threateningly and scarier look. The magma underneath the rocks of his body is more intense, flowing as lava with a strong reddish-orange tonality, lighting his eyes and constantly dipping out from the already existent craters in his body as well as from the many new holes in his torso.
Personality & Behaviour
Almost forever imprisoned in the Lava Pond by his own volcanic nature, Magmon lives haunted in turning into an enormous basaltic statue if the magma in his body ever cools out definitely. Thus, he’s never seen outside, in Perim, wandering around as a shadowy presence with an obscure personality, living together with other Creatures under the same restrictive conditions, like Zapetur and Kreaal.
The loneliness imposed on Magmon heavily weighs over his mental health and the psychological disordering certainly affects his intelligence, explaining his lack of an explicit loyalty, the non-nourishment of hate for other Tribes or Creatures, as well as his reckless behaviour.
Even though he’s not seen in battle, as a Creature made of magma Magmon has an intimate connection with the Fire Element. From an impacting Fireram to a highly destructive Magma Might, everything bends to his will and strike harder under his command, especially at the Lava Pond, that stirs the inner fire of his ancestry.
Brave and powerful, more than the slowness caused by the weight of his volcanic-rock body, the most negatively impacting of Magmon’s characteristics, is his weakened psychological side that, regardless all the firepower, makes him reckless, harming himself whenever he attacks.
During the M’arrillian Invasion, Khybon, brainwashed by Phelphor, under the command of the M’arrillian Chieftain Milla’iin, started building the enormous pipes needed to flood the Lava Pond with the waters of Everrain. An undertaking of such magnitude definitely couldn’t go unnoticed by the Creatures living there and, naturally, they fought back.
At some point after the confrontation between Zapetur and Milla’iin seen during the events of Newbie, be either by facing the M’arrillian himself or simply by getting caught in the cross-fire, Magmon ended up brainwashed as well. Eventually, with Milla’iin moving to the Marsh of Murk, Magmon came back to his senses, realizing the destruction caused to his home. Enraged, comes into play the Retaliator.
While a M’arrillian Minion, Magmon became even more powerful but, given his relatively impaired mental health, his fury degree made him an almost uncontrollable beast as well. But even if the trade-off for such power has rendered him much less courageous than before, with the needed comprehension to master a new Element essentially related to his volcanic nature as well, he awakened as an Earth Elementalist, expanding his range of Attacks as well as boosting the efficiency of the already trustable ones, like the Lavalanche.
And because the only way of breaking free of brainwashing is by terminating the link with Aa’une, Magmon would remain indefinitely susceptible to the M’arrillians’ mind-controlling abilities and his rage turned toward ta specific enemy could easily be switched against anyone unassociated with them in the presence of any other Chieftain.
